Week # 8--Ego Tripping
Ego Tripping is a poem written by Nikki Giovanni in 1973. Everything is about her ego. She is over confident and arrogant. She has infinite power. Writer mentions all cultures & places that she mentions. All these places are not presented in capital letters which do not give the words any importance. She also mentions all beliefs such as Christian, islam & arabic; however, nothing is compared with her. She wants to be in control. Oil is also presented which is essential to society. There is not used of capital letters of religions. She also adds that she is cool. Freedom and power is presented in this poem. There is also a meaning of Mother Nature that without it nothing could happen.

Planetarium
“What we see is what we see” 1968 Feminism movement Women liberation. There is use of active connotations. There is also movement and active changing throughout the poem. In addition, there is connection to Universe. We are constantly receiving info from space, spiritual connection to other planet. Atoms of Sun (subatomic levels, connected to it). Star’s (Sun) layer covers us… Scientific theory… Big bang.. I am a galactic cloud. Changes in the world to reconstruct the world fair, balance. Nature in a larger level, she tries to equal, balance to the world, nature, and planet

"Dover Beach"
Dover Beach by Matthew Arnold presents the relation of the world as a reality and his lover that could be his girlfriend or wife. The honesty plays an important role in his relationship. He analyses and expresses his lover that honesty is the key for an endless relation. His poem is rich with the usage of calm scenes. "Homage to My Hips" "Notes from the Delivery Room" & Sonnets of Sha
"Homage to My Hips" This is a poem which shows body in power. Honoring the hips of the writer, Lucille Clifton shows how grateful her hips have been. Importance of Gender/social empowering.
This poem, "Notes From the Delivery Room" shows body in recreation. It shows pain everywhere, not first image. There are emotions, crowning.
Writings of Shakespeare are sonnets which show time, love & life. Shakespeare's poems indicates body in love. Overcome mortality with immortal writing. Shakespeare expressed that the only way his words could become endless was by the usage of his pen. Summer symbolic of life. Battle against time (wreckful siege, battering days, impregnable, gates of steel). Mankind that will resist, defeat time.
